The Danger Of Minor-Majoritism: The Fate Of Nigerian Politics

Nigeria has a population of 180 million people out of which 68.8 million registered and were eligible to vote during the 2015 General elections. To save you the time, simply put it this way: only 38% of our population registered with INEC as eligible voters.

Let me talk to you about serious issues of national concern that has a direct impact on national security.

Why do I have this concern?

First; I am a responsible citizen of this great country.
Secondly; as a true Democrat and a human development consultant; your well being is my business.

Now, kindly listen with an open mind. Here comes the irony; do you know that only 28,587,564 turned out to vote on the day of the general election; which constitutes just 15.9% of our national population!?

Pathetic right!?

Well, based on data from National Population Commission and National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria has over 61% of its population eligible to register as voters. By implications; that means 15% of the population actually determined the fate of the 85% who refused to register or turn up for elections, for whatever reason.

Now that aside; you see what pains me most is this:
Young people are all over:
  1. Facebook,
  2. Twitter,
  3. LinkedIn,
  4. IMO,
  5. Snapchat,
  6. Skype,
  7. Wetalk, and
  8. WhatsApp e.t.c. And what do they engage themselves in?
Lies, arguing, debating,  postulating, wasting data, unprofitable calls, and the seemingly positive ones could be proposing good governance only on social media without corresponding actions. Many of them verbally claim they love Nigeria but have no PVC! They claim that they are exposed, schooled, learned, or are religious and offer daily prayers for their God to bring good governance to His people, yet have no PVC!
Question: How will that prayer be answered?

Now Comes The Hard Truth!

Faith without works is dead my dear friends! Even if you have the ability to prophesy, or perform some sanctimonious rituals; if you don't have PVC, you're weak! And you can't even stand up to be counted. You must always know that bad politicians are not born but are products of people like you, who neglect to exercise their franchise - those who refuse to cast their vote!

The Way Out and Forward

Do you have your PVC? If you don't have one, simply get to the nearest INEC office in your LGA and get yourself registered. Registration started again on Monday, January 8th, 2018, and It's going to be a continuous one.

Rebroadcast to your contacts and let us encourage people to register as voters.
Thanks for your time.
